CONCRETE SWALES are concrete channels used to catch and direct surface runoff.
Construction involves the installation of a concrete channel, 12", 18", 24" or more wide, 4 or more inches thick installed across the length of the area to be protected. Two steel rebars are embedded in the concrete to provide strength.
RETAINING WALL WITH CONCRETE SWALE and RAIN WATER CATCH BASIN
When Installed behind a retaining wall, SWALES usually drain to a CATCH BASIN, connected to a 4" solid drain pipe. Construction involves the excavation of a trench for the drain pipe which connects the catch basin to a termination point, usually the street. The work also may require curb cutting and patching for the drain pipe discharge.
